Antena 3 is Spanish commercial television network owned by Atresmedia. The channel broadcasts news, entertainment, movies, series, sports and reality shows programmings.
History
In August 1989, the socialist government of Felipe González launched the liberalization of Spanish television, until then state monopoly. It creates three new licenses issued to Antena 3, Canal+ (now #0) and Tele 5 (now Telecinco).
The channel starts broadcasting in September of the same year; it is then the first private channel in Spain. Its regular broadcasts begin on January 25, 1990.
Following the launch of digital terrestrial television (DTT) in Spain on November 30, 2005, each analogue channel was awarded two new channels in addition to its own. Antena 3 Televisión, S.A. has therefore launched three new channels: Neox dedicated to young audiences with series, Nova dedicated to the female audience with series and telenovelas and Nitro dedicated to men with series and sports.
The version of Antena 3 HD is available since September 28, 2010. It is the HD 1080i version of Antena 3.
