BBC Earth (Dekania)

BBC Earth is Dekanian television network owned by BBC Studios Dekania. The channel broadcasts documentaries related to nature and wildlife.

History

BBC Earth was launched on 28th April 1997 as NDR Horizon originally owned by Nacionalna Dekanskaradio's NDR Vision. Launch of the broadcast for documentaries.

On 11th June 2004, NDR Horizon was rebranded with the new logo and idents were changed as part of Nacionalna Dekanska Radiodifuzija's rebranding effort.

On 1st December 2005, NDR Horizon was rebranded with the new idents were changed created by Lambie Nairn and Velvet mediendesign.

On 11th June 2006, NDR Horizon was closed by Nacionalna Dekanska Radiodifuzija for reason: sold by Egmont Metrovision and was renamed Horizon TV.

On 23rd October 2008, Horizon TV switched to 16:9 image format.

On 18th April 2009, Horizon TV is renamed BBC Horizon was acquired by BBC Worldwide.

On 21st November 2011, BBC Horizon is renamed BBC Knowledge, specialized in documentaries related to natural history, wildlife, science and technology.

On 1st June 2012, BBC Knowledge stopped the 4:3 image format and then full 16:9 image format and launched in high-definition version.

On 1st February 2015, BBC Knowledge is renamed BBC Earth (along with BBC Brit) specialized in natural history and wildlife.

On 16th November 2016, BBC Earth was added from Dekanian local cable providers.

On 19th December 2021, BBC Earth's streaming service BBC Player was launched.

On 14th September 2023, BBC Earth was rebranded with the new logo and idents were changed.
