DW-TV is German television network owned by ARD. The channel broadcasts news (nationwide, worldwide and sports), weather, business, arts, culture and documentaries programmings.
History[]
DW-TV was launched on 22nd August 1988 as RIAS TV. Launch of the broadcast for news, entertainment and music videos.
On 1st April 1992, RIAS TV is renamed as Deutsche Welle TV.
On 1st July 1995, Deutsche Welle TV was rebranded and the new logo and idents were changed, was now 24 hours for the first time.
On 1st January 1999, Deutsche Welle TV was changing the programmings.
On 8th April 2002, Deutsche Welle TV's sister channel German TV was launched.
On 18th March 2005, Deutsche Welle TV is renamed as DW-TV.
On 3rd January 2008, DW-TV switched to 16:9 image format.
On 5th February 2012, DW-TV was rebranded and the new logo and idents were changed.
On 22nd June 2016, DW-TV's English language channel was launched.
On 1st December 2020, DW-TV's English language channel was launched in high-definition version.
On 29th April 2021, DW-TV's Hungarian language channel was launched on YouTube.
