France 5 is French television network owned by France TV. The channel broadcasts news, entertainment, documentaries, educational, culture, children's programmings.
History[]
France 5 was launched on 13th December 1994 as La Cinquième. Launch of the broadcast for educational and documentaries. Originally broadcast hours at 6:00 to 19:00 who timesharing with Arte.
On 3rd November 1995, La Cinquième was extended its broadcast hours at 6:00 to 0:00 on the Paris cable provider.
On 16th October 1999, La Cinquième was rebranded with the new logo and idents were changed.
On 1st August 2000, La Cinquième was acquired by France Télévision.
On 8th September 2001, La Cinquième was now 24 hours for this time on cable and satellite.
On 7th January 2002, La Cinquième was renamed as France 5.
On 31st March 2005, France 5 was now 24 hours for this time on digital terrestrial.
On 7th April 2008, France 5 was rebranded with the new logo and idents were changed also switched to 16:9 image format.
On 30th November 2011, France 5 was stopped its timesharing with Arte on analogue television.
On 27th October 2012, France 5 was rebranded with the new logo was changed.
On 14th September 2015, France 5 was changed its prime-thime schedule.
On 29th January 2018, France 5 was rebranded with the new logo and idents were changed.
On 4th January 2021, France 5 was rebranded with the new idents were changed.
On 6th June 2025, France 5 was changed its new screen-bug to corporate logo.
On 26th September 2025, France 5 will broadcasted local ads in Belgium on 1st January 2026.
