Groupe TF1 is French commercial broadcaster, the owner of channel TF1, the largest European private TV network

History[]

TF1 was created in 1987 by privatization of the first public television.

In 1992, the group left its historic headquarters on 13-15 rue Cognacq-Jay for the TF1 Tower.

In 2007, Patrick le Lay was replaced by Nonce Paolini.

In May 2009, Groupe TF1 announced its intention to buy 40% of the TMC shares owned by AB Groupe, as well as 100% of NT1. The Competition Authority authorized the transaction on January 26, 2006, and the CSA on March 24,

Since May 2009, Groupe TF1 has increased from 33.5% to 49% in the Holding WB Télévision. In 2013, Groupe TF1 sells its stake in WB Télévision.

In January 2015, Discovery Communications raised its stake in Eurosport International to 51% (against 20% previously, at the expense of TF1) 9. In July 2015, Discovery acquires the 49% stake in Eurosport for Groupe TF1 for 491 million euros10. At the same time, TF1 acquires Discovery's 20% stake in TV Breizh, Histoire and Ushuaïa TV.

In November 2015, Groupe TF1 acquires 70% of the holding company (FLCP) of the Newen production company, which produces Plus Belle la vie or Le Magazine de la santé, the rest of the capital belonging to former shareholders, Management team.

In 2016, Groupe TF1 gives a clearer positioning for its TNTː TMC, a younger, more mixed, more CSP+ audience, while NT1 a young and female audience, and finally HD1 focuses on series and cinema.

On 5th November 2018, Groupe TF1 acquires as joint-venture AB Moteurs was renamed as Automoto la Chaîne.
