Muzzik is French former music television network owned by Groupe MCM. The channel broadcasts music related to classical, jazz, dance and world music programmings.

History[]

Groupe MCM is launching on May 1, 1996 at 19:00 unencrypted on cable and Canalsatellite a channel dedicated to classical music, jazz and world music that it calls Muzzik. The channel is quickly encrypted and offered as an option with a subscription costing 25 or 30 francs per month.

After a three-year competition between Muzzik and Mezzo, Lagardère and France Télévision decide on December 7, 2001 to merge their music channels. The entity born of this merger on April 2, 2002 at 12:40 becomes the first thematic channel in the fields of Classical Music, Opera, Dance, Jazz and World Music in Europe. After the merger, the name Mezzo is retained.

Programmings[]

Muzzik proposed four fixed appointments a day at rush hour with at 15 hours, recitals, shows and operas; at 21:00 concerts, events and films; and at 18:00 and 22:30 jazz. Each night of the week had a different theme, and each program was broadcast five times a month.
