NHK World is Japanese television network owned by Nippon Hoso Kyokai. The channel broadcasts news, entertainment, lifestyle and documentaries programmings.

History[]

NHK World was launched on 1st April 1998. Launch of the broadcast for news and entertainment.

On August 2001, NHK World was extended in South Africa by satellite.

On January 2006, NHK World broadcasts both English and Japanese language.

On 2nd February 2009, NHK World was rebranded and the new logo and idents were changed.

On 7th December 2009, NHK World stopped its 4:3 image format then became a full 16:9 image format and was launched in high-definition version.

On October 2015, NHK World was rebranded and the new logo and idents were changed.
