National Geographic is Romanian television network owned by Disney Media Networks Romania. The channel broadcasts documentaries and reality-shows related to history, science, nature, civilisation and outdoor.
History[]
National Geographic was launched on 1st April 1999 as National Geographic Channel. Launch of the broadcast for documentaries.
On 13th January 2002, National Geographic Channel was rebranded with the new logo and idents were changed.
On 7th April 2005, National Geographic Channel was rebranded with the new logo and idents were changed.
On 1st July 2009, National Geographic Channel's sister channel Nat Geo Wild was launched.
On 1st February 2010, National Geographic Channel was launched in high-definition version.
On 24th May 2012, National Geographic Channel was switched to 16:9 image format.
On 14th November 2016, National Geographic Channel was renamed as National Geographic.
On 20th March 2019, National Geographic was acquired by Disney Media Networks Romania.
On 3rd September 2019, National Geographic was relaunched in high-definition version in Romanian language.
On 14th June 2022, National Geographic's library was added on Disney+.
