Nova is Bulgarian private television network owned by Nova Broadcasting Group. The channel broadcasts entertainment, news, sports, series and reality shows programmings.
History[]
Nova started as a regional regional television channel in Sofia on 16 July 1994. The first feature of the TV program is the Bulgarian feature film Vsichko e lyubov (1979). On August 7, 1995, the first newsletter Kalendar was broadcast. On 17 September 1997 was the first issue of the first morning block on TV Pochna se. Since 2000, television has been 100% owned by the Greek media company Antenna Group.
On 18 July 2003, Nova received a national broadcasting license for its program and became the third national television in Bulgaria (after Kanal 1 and BTV).
On September 19, 2005, Nova introduces a new logo, new music and graphic packaging along with its new programming scheme.
On July 31, 2008, the Swedish media giant Modern Times Group signed a contract to buy Nova for 620 million euros (over 1.2 billion leva). During this period, the company also owns the so-called then TV channels of Diema Vision. Since the beginning of 2011, Nova, Diema, Diema 2, Diema Family, Nova Sport, the four paid channels - TV1000, Viasat History, Viasat Explore, Viasat Nature and Eva are united under the name Nova Broadcasting Group by MTG.
On September 12, 2011, television presents its new programming schedule, changing its graphic design and its new logo, and the news release is renamed Novinite na Nova Televiziya. Diema 2 gets a new name Kino Nova.
On February 19, 2018, MTG announced that the Czech investment group PPF attained 95% of Nova Broadcasting Group. The remaining 5% was given to the CEO of Nova Didie Stosel.
