Pervyi Kanal (Russian: Первый Канал) is Russian public television network owned by Natsionalnaya Media Gruppa. The channel broadcasts news, entertainment, sports, movies, series, game-shows, lifestyle and documentaries programmings.
History[]
Pervyi Kanal was launched on 22nd March 1951 as Tsentralnoe Studiya Televidinie. Launch of the broadcast for news, entertainment and sports.
On 14th February 1956, Tsentralnoe Studiya Televidinie was renamed Pervaya programma TsST along with Vtoraya programma TSST's launch (now Rossiya 1).
On 1957, Pervaya programma TsST is renamed Pervaya programma TsT.
On 1967, Pervaya programma TsT broadcasts in full color programmings.
On 1980, Pervaya programma TsT was rebranded and the new logo have five circles with red star.
On 16th September 1991, Pervaya programma TsT was rebranded.
On 27th December 1991, Pervaya programma TsT is renamed Pervyi kanal Ostankino following Soviet Union's dissolution.
On 1st April 1995, Pervyi kanal Ostankino was renamed ORT (Obschestvennoe Rossiyskoe Televidinie) and the new logo for six months.
On 1st October 1995, ORT was rebranded again and the new logo italized number 1 and wordmark.
On 1st January 1997, ORT was rebranded and the new idents created by Novocom.
On 1st October 2000, ORT was rebranded and the new logo have italized number 1 with vertical line.
On 1st September 2002, ORT was renamed Pervyi Kanal and the logo was kept, however the idents were changed to match the new network's name.
On 1st June 2011, Pervyi Kanal switched to 16:9 image format.
On 24th December 2012, Pervyi Kanal stopped the 4:3 image format and then became a full 16:9 image format and was launched in high-definition simulcast.
On 15th June 2018, Pervyi Kanal was launched in ultra high-definition simulcast during FIFA World Cup 2018 matches.
