Planète+ CI is French documentary television network owned by MultiThématiques and France TV. The channel broadcasts Crime+Investigation programmings.

History[]

On September 27, 2007, a press conference was held at the Maison du Barreau in Paris, in the presence of Rodolphe Belmer, Deputy General Manager of Canal+, Olivier Stroh, Director of Chaînes thématiques Découverte du Groupe Canal+, and Georges Pernoud, represented of public televisions France Télévisions.

With a unique concept in Europe, the new channel will be the first in France to be entirely devoted to the judicial system as a whole and its diversity, as well as to the police institution, and to address the place of justice within The company, notably thanks to a large fund of documentaries devoted to the subject. Planète Justice, with a budget of 5.5 million euros, has the ambition to become a chain of proximity to better understand justice, its functioning and its professions. It will broadcast 600 hours of fresh programs in the evening in the first year, a majority of which are bought on catalogs of French, American and British documentaries, but also unpublished ones.

"Our subscribers have a very strong desire to know more about justice. And each case is potentially a scenario, a fiction of the real, "says Olivier Stroh, also announcing the programming of fictions (movies, TV movies, and series) for later.

Regarding the burning question of the retransmission of trials, including live, Olivier Stroh indicates that there are "workshops of reflection on the subject". The battle chain with the Chancellery where any reflection on the capture of the trials by the TV seems to stand still, to obtain permission to film the hearings, on the example of Court TV in the United States. Today the French law closes the door of the courts to the cameras, unlike some States of the United States that allow to retransmit trials on line. "We feel that an opening is inevitable and we will accompany this evolution. Stroh wrote Rachida Dati to inform him of the birth of the chain. "Of course, we would dream of entering the courtrooms, but we will have to be patient. This does not mean that the grid will be filled with American programs, before embarking on the adventure we verified that the catalogs of French documentaries were filled enough.
