Sky is British telecommunication company owned by Sky Group. The company have satellite television, broadband internet, mobile telephony services and thirty-four television channels.
History[]
Sky was founded on 5th February 1989 as Sky Television. Found of the company for satellite television and the new channels (Sky Channel, Sky News, Sky Movies and Eurosport).
On 2nd November 1990, Sky Television was merged with its rival British Satellite Broadcasting to BSkyB (British Sky Broadcasing).
On 20th April 1991, BSkyB's channel The Sports Channel were renamed as Sky Sports.
On 1st September 1993, BSkyB was rebranded and the new logo was changed, the new analogue television service "Sky Multichannels".
On 1st February 1995, BSkyB was rebranded and the new logo was changed.
On 1st September 1996, BSkyB's channel Sky 2 was launched.
On 1st September 1997, BSkyB was rebranded and the new logo was changed, the company channel's Sky 2 was renamed as National Geographic Channel.
On 1st September 1998, BSkyB was rebranded and the new logos of channels were changed.
On 1st October 1998, BSkyB was starting the new digital television serivce "Sky Digital".
On 1st May 1999, BSkyB was rebranded and the new logo was changed.
On 1st October 2001, BSkyB was rebranded and the new logo was changed, the analogue television provider was shutdown.
On 9th December 2002, BSkyB's channel Sky One Mix (now Sky Two) was launched.
On 1st September 2004, BSkyB was rebranded and the new logo was changed.
On 20th June 2005, BSkyB acquires Artsworld (now Sky Arts).
On 31st October 2005, BSkyB's channel Sky Three (now Pick) was launched.
On 4th April 2007, BSkyB's movie channels Sky Movies [number] were renamed as Sky Movies [movie genre].
On 19th September 2009, BSkyB was rebranded and the new logo was changed.
On 1st February 2011, BSkyB acquires Living TV Group channels (Channel One, Challenge, Living, Living It and Living Loves).
On 12th May 2014, BSkyB is renamed as Sky.
On 19th April 2016, Sky was rebranded and the new logo was changed.
On 8th July 2016, Sky's movie channels Sky Movies is renamed as Sky Cinema
On 6th August 2018, Sky's channel Sky Living was renamed as Sky Witness.
On 12th October 2018, Sky's owner Sky plc was acquired by Comcast and renamed as Sky Group
On 1st October 2019, Sky's channel Real Lives was renamed as Sky Crime.
On 27th January 2020, Sky's channel Sky Comedy was launched, replaced Universal TV.
On 27th May 2020, Sky's documentary channels Sky Documentaries, Sky Nature, Sky History and Sky History 2 were launched.
On 1st July 2020, Sky was rebranded and the new logo was changed.
On 23rd July 2020, Sky's movie channel Sky Cinema Animation was launched.
On 20th August 2020, Sky acquires Merit from ITV plc.
On 27th August 2020, Sky's channel Sky Two was renamed as Sky Replay.
On 17th September 2020, Sky's channel Merit was closed.
On 30th December 2020, Sky's movie channel Sky Cinema Disney was closed.
On 27th July 2021, Sky's channel Sky One will be renamed as Sky Max and Sky Showcase will be launching on 1st September.
On 1st September 2021, Sky's channel Sky Max was launched, replaced Sky One. Another Sky's channel Sky Showcase was also launched.
On 26th July 2022, Sky's channel Sky Sci-Fi was launched, replaced SyFy.
