Sport 1 is German television network owned by Sport 1 Medien. The channel broadcasts sports events (football, basketball, tennis, motorsports), entertainment, series programmings.
History[]
Sport 1 was launched on 1st January 1984 as Musicbox the first German music television network. Launch of the broadcast for music videos.
On 11th January 1988, Musicbox is renamed as Tele 5 and the new broadcast format for news, entertainment, movies, series, music videos and cartoons.
On 15th October 1990, Tele 5 was rebranded and the new logo and idents were changed.
On 1st June 1992, Tele 5 was rebranded and the new logo and idents were changed created by Lambie-Nairn.
On 1st January 1993, Tele 5 is renamed as DSF (short for Deutsches Sportfernsehen) and the new broadcast format for sports events.
On 1st August 1993, DSF was rebranded and the new logo and idents were changed.
On 16th February 1997, DSF was rebranded and the new logo and idents were changed.
On 21st June 1997, DSF's channels: DSF Plus, DSF Action and DSF Golf were launched exclusively at DF1.
On 27th July 2000, DSF was rebranded and the new logo and idents were changed.
On 1st February 2004, DSF was rebranded and the new logo and idents were changed stylized as D:SF.
On 17th November 2008, DSF switched to 16:9 image format.
On 12th April 2010, DSF is renamed as Sport 1.
On 1st September 2010, Sport 1 stopped its 4:3 image format then became a full 16:9 image format and was launched in high-definition version.
On 19th July 2013, Sport 1 was rebranded and the new logo and idents were changed.
On 1st August 2013, Sport 1's channel Sport 1 US was launched replaced by ESPN America.
On 25th January 2019, Sport 1's channel Sport 1 US is renamed as ESports 1.
