Tokyo Broadcasting System is Japanese television network owned by Tokyo Broadcasting System Holdings. The channel broadcasts news, entertainment, series, lifestyle, documentaries, sports and anime programmings.

History[]

Tokyo Broadcasting System was launched on 1st April 1955 as KR-TV. Launch of the broadcast for news, entertainment and sports.

On 10th September 1960, KR-TV was broadcasts in color programmings.

On 29th November 1960, KR-TV is renamed as Tokyo Broadcasting System.

On 1st August 1962, Tokyo Broadcasting System was rebranded and the first logo was added.

On 10th October 1964, Tokyo Broadcasting System was broadcasts Summer Olympics from Tokyo.

On 30th September 1968, Tokyo Broadcasting System was broadcasts in full color programmings.

On 19th November 1974, Tokyo Broadcasting System was a basic agreement has been reached for the quasi-key stations.

On 1st October 1977, Tokyo Broadcasting System was starting the commercial bank operation.

On 20th November 1978, Tokyo Broadcasting System was starting the TV audio multiplex broadcasting.

On 1st March 1981, Tokyo Broadcasting System broadcasts groundbreaking programming at the time when PCM digital process.

On 1st April 1986, Tokyo Broadcasting System was starting the teletext service.

On 1st October 1987, Tokyo Broadcasting System was now 24 hours for the first time.

On 30th September 1991, Tokyo Broadcasting System was rebranded and the new logo and idents were changed.

On 17th January 1994, Tokyo Broadcasting System was rebranded and the new logo and idents were changed.

On 1st April 1998, Tokyo Broadcasting System's news channel JNN Newsbird (now TBS News) was changed.

On 1st February 2000, Tokyo Broadcasting System was rebranded and the new idents were changed.

On 1st December 2003, Tokyo Broadcasting System was starting in digital television.

On 1st March 2006, Tokyo Broadcasting System switched to 16:9 image format and was launched in high-definition version.

On 5th July 2010, Tokyo Broadcasting System stopped its 4:3 image format then became a full 16:9 image format.

On 28th September 2015, Tokyo Broadcasting System's affiliates were chaning programmings to stereo broadcasts.

On 1st April 2020, Tokyo Broadcasting System was rebranded and the new logo and idents were changed.
